Dimitra Stathopoulou has Pop Sonality!

💥¿Quién eres? Mi nombre es Dimitra Stathopoulou. Nací en Atenas y he vivido en la isla de Rethymno-Creta durante los últimos 15 años. Realmente sigo preguntándome quién soy y por qué. Y luego busco personas y otros seres y lugares con los que me identifico. Creo que se trata de identificación con personas y lugares a los que pertenezco.

¿Qué haces? Voy por mis recuerdos y anhelos. En realidad, la fotografía no se trata de fotografía, sino que para mí es conocer gente, descubrir lugares y tratar de comprenderme a mí mismo. No somos solo una persona, hay más en nosotros que solo una persona, tenemos más personalidades dentro de nosotros y es un desafío para mí descubrirlo... tomando fotos.

Influencias e inspiración: algunos de los artistas más influyentes en mi obra incluyen a Eugene Atget, Diane Arbus, Joel Sternfeld, Alec Soth y Stephen Shore. Estoy inspirado por Anders Petersen y mi curador Stratos Kalafatis.

💥Who are you? My name is Dimitra Stathopoulou. I was born in Athens & have lived in Rethymno-Crete island for the last 15 years. I really continue asking myself – who am I and why. And then I am looking for people and other beings and places to whom I identify myself. I think it’s all about identification with people and places that I belong to.

What do you do? I'm going for my memories and longings. Actually, photography is not about photography, but for me, it is meeting people, discovering places, and trying to understand myself. We are not just one person, there is more in us than just a person, we have more personalities inside us and it is a challenge for me to find out… by taking pictures.
