Cristóbal Tabares has Pop Sonality!
💥 ¿Quién eres? Soy Cristóbal Tabares, un artista plástico que vive en Tenerife.
¿Qué haces? Me dedico a la pintura y sufro una fuerte incontinencia pictórica como autor, unido además, a la necesidad autoimpuesta de poner el acento en el reconocimiento, a personas y momentos que, de una manera u otra, forman parte de la memoria colectiva de las generaciones más recientes. Mi idea es configurar un catálogo de personajes seleccionados, algunos, por ser historia de este país, otros por ser fenómenos instantáneos que nosotros mismos hemos convertido en iconos a golpe de likes; y otros, por ser precisamente unos antihéroes, tan necesarios como los triunfadores, contrapunto en los que se refleja una sociedad voraz que demanda rápido referentes a los que amar y odiar. Este imaginario compone un panorama pop de personajes patrios, cuyos 15 minutos warholianos de fama se los han otorgado las revistas y los programas de Televisión. Ya Velázquez fijó su mirada en los bufones que entretenían a la corte de Felipe IV, una muestra de rebeldía e ironía a la forma de diversión de la realeza de su época, pero que dignificaba y ponía en valor a los modelos reproducidos. Me interesa ese catálogo de momentos que forman parte del imaginario «millennial», y, en la era de lo digital, «analogizar» con la idea romántica de que un cuadro es para siempre y un «meme» muere en 24 horas. El proceso es algo así como pasar un DVD a VHS.
Influencias e inspiración: Cuando me atasco pintando un cuadro siempre consulto libros de Velázquez y Sorolla. Me parecen fundamentales. Sigo el trabajo de Santiago Ydáñez, Ana Barriga, Pascual Rodríguez, Miki Leal, Mohamed L'Ghacham, Cristina de Middel, Octavio Terol, Naro Pinosa, Miss Beige, Sabina Urraca y María Von Touceda. Las películas de Almodóvar, mi abuela Isolina, las cuentas de instagram «Dos fotos» y «Es un escándalo», los karaokes...
