馃挜 ¿Qui茅n eres? Soy MAI. Vivo en Tokio, Jap贸n. Despu茅s de graduarme de una universidad de arte en Kioto, trabaj茅 como compradora en la industria de la moda y tambi茅n como artista.

¿Qu茅 haces? Mi trabajo tiene dos patrones: pinturas digitales y obras de arte anal贸gicas, que se cortan y pegan para crear superficies irregulares.

Influencias e inspiraci贸n: Mi trabajo siempre se basa en los paisajes que he visto y la inspiraci贸n que he tomado de mis viajes por el mundo. Por ejemplo, los hermosos vestidos de Marruecos, los patrones de los edificios de Uzbekist谩n y los colores creados por la naturaleza.

馃挜 Who are you? I'm MAI. I live in Tokyo, Japan. After graduating from an art university in Kyoto, I worked as a buyer in the fashion industry and also as an artist.

What do you do? My work has two patterns: digital paintings and analogue artwork, which is cut and pasted to create uneven surfaces.

Influences and inspiration: My work is always based on the landscapes I have seen and the inspiration I have taken from my travels around the world. For example, the beautiful dresses in Morocco, the patterns on buildings in Uzbekistan and the colours created by nature.

How does it make you feel to see what you know is a good motif for a photograph?  Ypatia Kornarou: Because of social media and the internet in general, photo viewing is a condition we have to deal with every day. In the “age of the image” the difficult thing is to discover qualitative “visual field” invested with an interesting narrative. When finally a photograph can and does contain the elements, the motif that will give it an interesting identity then the feeling is one of surprise and relief about the art of photography.
