1. Cultivate your vision. Watch a lot of movies and other photographers’ work.

2. Experiment with various photographic genres. Landscape, portrait, night shots. Don’t just do the photography you like. Get out of your comfort zone.

3. Switch to fixed focal lengths.

4. Don’t just look at images through the viewfinder. The best image is in your eyes.

5. Play with light... it’s as important as the moment.

6. The settings often give you the key. Not just the moment but the place.

7. Anticipate the moment. When you practice it you have a crystal ball in your hands.

8. Be a hunter and/or fisherman. Be ready to shoot or patient for it to happen.

9. Be open-minded to the unpredictable.

10. And most importantly. Enjoy photography.

How does it make you feel to see what you know is a good motif for a photograph?  Dimitra Kitsiou: I keep seeing “photos” and “frames” everywhere.  Frequently, I see the “frame” first and then the reality as if everything exists to end up in a photo.  Perversion? Maybe!
