💥Who are you? Australian professional, contemporary artists Eric and Robyn Werkhoven. Together they exhibit under the title of Studio La Primitive. Both are award-winning artists, and their work has been selected for exhibitions nationally and internationally.
What do you do? They have been involved in the visual arts for many years including performance/event art, painting, sculpture, textile design, and management of galleries. Both are award-winning. In 2013 they established the successful Art and Literary online magazine – Studio La Primitive Arts Zine.
Influences and inspirations: Their collaborative works are a celebration of everyday life “exploring the world of human caprice, with sheer delight and a touch of irony”. The artist’s individual styles are evident in these works; Robyn’s passion for portraiture and figuration, and Eric’s stylized mythical beasts and human creatures, as is their shared attraction to bold color. Their styles come together complementing each other, creating energetic and powerful work – “a perpetual intrigue with the rituals, mysteries, and absurdities of existence”.
