💥 Hagar Vardimon has Pop Sonality!
💥 @happyredfish has Pop Sonality! Last weekend, the striking series by the extraordinary Hagar Vardimon aka @happyredfish was featured at @photofairs New York, with @robertmangallery "Which Way the Wind Blows": straight embroidery stitches, are hand-sewn directly on found photos. On top of the main image subject, horizontal straight lines have been stitched, like they're being blown by the wind, like a faded memory. This obscures the main object while perpetuating it at the same time. The threads render the image fuzzy and almost unrecognizable as distant memories. The threads mimic the colours of the image below, creating an additional layer of hiding and revealing. The images are photos of everyday life, for example, a photo taken in and next to a new car before going on vacation and a photo taken in a front yard next to a favourite toy.

Artist Hagar Vardimon's work featured in Photofairs New York this past weekend. She has worked with paper and threads for over ten ears and highlights how the thread allows her to create a new physical, tactile layer on top of existing photos; A layer that was not there before.
