🫧  ¿Quién eres? Soy Dimitris Mytas, un fotógrafo nacido (1970) y residente en Atenas, Grecia. He presentado mi trabajo en 7 exposiciones individuales en Atenas, Grecia, y he participado en numerosas exposiciones colectivas, en Grecia y en el extranjero. He publicado 6 fotolibros: Faces/1998, Insight/2003, Zero Ten/2011, Hospital/2016, Dreamtigers/2019, Mauve/2022.

¿Qué haces? En un universo paralelo, estudié Ciencias Médicas en la Facultad de Medicina de Atenas y ejercí la Medicina como Cardiólogo de un Hospital Público.

Influencias e inspiración: Nikos Andrikopoulos me introdujo en el mundo de la fotografía a principios de los 90. Desde entonces sigo creyendo que la estética es la ética del futuro (cita de Vassilis Raphaelidis). Mis influencias provienen principalmente de la música (Miles Davis), la poesía (Maria Savvaki), la literatura (Jorge Luis Borges), la escultura (Auguste Rodin), el cine (Michelangelo Antonioni), la pintura (Mark Rothko) y la fotografía (Ralph Eugene Meatyard).

🫧 Who are you? I am Dimitris Mytas, a photographer born (1970) and based in Athens, Greece. I have presented my work in 7 solo exhibitions in Athens Greece and have taken part in numerous group exhibitions, in Greece and abroad. I have published 6 photobooks: Faces/1998, Insight/2003, Zero Ten/2011, Hospital/2016, Dreamtigers/2019, Mauve/2022.

What do you do? In a parallel universe, I studied Medical Science in Athens Medical School and practice Medicine as a Cardiologist of a Public Hospital.

Influences and inspiration: I was introduced in the world of photography by Nikos Andrikopoulos in the early 90's. Since then, I continue to believe that aesthetics is the ethics of the future (Vassilis Raphaelidis’ quote). My influences indicatively come from music (Miles Davis), poetry (Maria Savvaki), literature (Jorge Luis Borges), sculpture (Auguste Rodin), cinema (Michelangelo Antonioni), painting (Mark Rothko) and photography (Ralph Eugene Meatyard).

How does it make you feel to see what you know is a good motif for a photograph?  Dimitra Kitsiou: I keep seeing “photos” and “frames” everywhere.  Frequently, I see the “frame” first and then the reality as if everything exists to end up in a photo.  Perversion? Maybe! I don’t have preferred motifs, it’s the mood of the moment and the manner, not the subject, that make the photo; and the light.  The moment when what I “see” becomes an image is a moment of profound joy. ✨ Pop Sonality: ¿Cómo te sientes cuando ves un gran hallazgo para una foto? ¿Cómo te hace sentir ver lo que sabes que es un buen motivo para una fotografía?
