馃寠 Who are you? Laura Thiessen.


What do you do? I create hand-cut paper collages made with vintage books and magazines.


Influences and inspiration: I am influenced by Dadaism, surrealism, the abstract, the beautiful, and the silly. Vintage books and magazines inspire me because I love looking into the past and seeing the evolution of art, design, fashion, and print.

Influencias e inspiraci贸n. Estoy influenciada por el dada铆smo, el surrealismo, lo abstracto, lo bello y lo tonto. Los libros y revistas antiguos me inspiran porque me encanta mirar al pasado y ver la evoluci贸n del arte, el dise帽o, la moda y la impresi贸n.

How does it make you feel to see what you know is a good motif for a photograph?  Ypatia Kornarou: Because of social media and the internet in general, photo viewing is a condition we have to deal with every day. In the “age of the image” the difficult thing is to discover qualitative “visual field” invested with an interesting narrative. When finally a photograph can and does contain the elements, the motif that will give it an interesting identity then the feeling is one of surprise and relief about the art of photography.
